The current situation with regard to the Coronavirus is fast moving and as such any information given at and during the time of making arrangements for a Funeral or repatriation is our best advice and guidance at this particular time.

We are trying to limit changes such as embalming techniques, travel route, airlines used and the overall cost as much as possible.

Flights will undoubtedly be altered, delayed and in some extreme circumstances cancelled. Cost will fluctuate on a daily bases.

From Public Health UK

The principles of Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) and Transmission Based Precautions (TBPs) continue to apply whilst deceased individuals remain in the care environment. This is due to the ongoing risk of infectious transmission via contact although the risk is usually lower than for living patients. Where the deceased was known or suspected to have been infected with COVID-19, there is no requirement for a body bag, and viewing, hygienic preparations, post-mortem and embalming are all permitted.

Embalming of Deceased infected with or who have been exposed to Corona virus.

As of November 2020 we have been advised that Embalming is still allowed if our 'infectious protocols' are observed.

These are very similar to those put in place for embalming most other infectious cases.

Our Embalmers are equipped with all necessary protective equipment, which includes full respiratory equipment, to allow the embalming of Deceased with certain infections.

An additional total charge for this specialist service of £250 will be added to any estimate given if the infection is not declared, or not known of, during our initial consultation.

Viewing of Deceased after infectious embalming.

Viewing is available so long as the Social Distancing rule are maintained.

We will dress your loved one in clothes if provides or we will use one of our gowns.

Please be patient and take head of any instructions given to you by our Team at Mears and Jackson.
